Living with asthma and bronchitis shouldn't mean a lifetime of side effects.

Cat with AeroKat Chamber

When you cannot breathe, nothing else matters.

Unfortunately, our animal friends cannot always tell us how they are feeling or when they need help. That is why it is important to manage their respiratory conditions with effective treatments that can help their breathing problem without introducing other health complications.

Our aerosol spacer chambers enable the use of inhaled medications to manage your pet’s respiratory symptoms. Inhaled medications deliver drugs directly to the lungs – where they are needed. Targeted delivery limits side effects, which can be common with regular use of oral or injectable steroids.

The Trudell Animal Health chambers can help you feel confident that you are helping your pet breathe better and live better.

Asthma, Bronchitis, and Other Respiratory Diseases in Animals

Respiratory conditions in animals can be common.  Asthma affects around 5% of cats, 14% of horses, and up to 50% of racehorses. While dogs do not strictly get asthma as they do not have reactive airways, they do get bronchitis, collapsed trachea, and rhinitis. And short snouted, or brachycephalic dogs frequently have respiratory problems.

Common symptoms of these conditions can include coughing, wheezing, panting, and reductions in physical activity. Coughing can be infrequent but persistent, which can sometimes lead cat parents to mistakenly believe the cough results from hair balls (learn more about hairballs).

The typical cause of these symptoms is airway inflammation, which is often controlled using corticosteroids.  These steroids can be delivered to your pet systemically (oral pills, injections, topically) or through inhalation.

Just like children, animals can use inhaled steroids too!

Inhaled steroids such as fluticasone (learn more) target the lungs directly, requiring 25 times less concentration than systemic steroids like prednisone, prednisolone, or dexamethasone. These systemic steroids must be delivered in high concentrations as they are first metabolized by the body before circulating through the blood where only some of it reaches the lungs. The rest ends up in other areas of the body which can cause short and long term health problems and behavioral side effects.

If you have ever been on oral steroids, you may have felt “off” or less in control of your emotions. Our animal friends can feel the same but have no way of letting us know. For these reasons, inhaled steroids are preferred for long term disease management in both children and animals.

Performance
Designed to generate more particles that are of the ideal size to reach the lower airways

Sensitive Valves
Unique valves open and close to match the respiratory capability of the animal

Antistatic Capability
Holds the medication longer to give animals more time to inhale

Mask Shape
Fits animals, not people. Helps prevent gaps in mask seal and loss of medication

Mask Design
Non-stick masks don’t pull on hair or fur

Easy-To-Use

  • No force feeding or hiding pills in food
  • Well accepted and can be used with any
    metered dose inhaler

Make Every Puff Count

Our chambers offer greater drug availability for a longer time. This helps your animal get the right dose while reducing medication waste and helping save on your annual respiratory medication costs.

More time means better performance:

  •     Enables you to puff the inhaler before applying the mask
  •     Ensures enough time for the 7-10 breaths needed to empty the chamber
  •     Ensures animals who hold their breath will still get medication
